The State Legislature passed two major producer responsibility bills during the 2024 session.
- The Packaging Waste & Cost Reduction Act: This legislation, authored in the House by Rep. Sydney Jordan of Minneapolis and Sen. Kelly Morrison of Deephaven in the Senate, creates an extended producer responsibility (EPR) system for packaging in Minnesota.
- Boat Wrap Product Stewardship: Rep. Larry Kraft of St. Louis Park and Sen. Kelly Morrison authored this bill to have producers of plastic boat wrap film collect and recycle the estimated six million pounds sold in Minnesota every year.
These two laws will take a few years to fully implement, and RAM would like to introduce you to the legislators and lead county staff who made it happen. We would also like to have a networking opportunity so that stakeholders can get to know each other.
Join RAM on Wednesday, September 25th for a panel discussion with Rep. Jordan, Rep. Kraft, and Mallory Anderson of Hennepin County Environment and Energy,
